NPR’s Scott Simon and Jamie Bernstein joined Maestro Marin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony for a Leonard Bernstein Centennial celebration in Baltimore this month.
Alsop, an orchestral conductor, and Bernstein, whose new book (Famous Father Girl: A Memoir of Growing Up Bernstein) comes out in June, tell stories of LB: the mentor, conductor, educator, father, composer, and citizen artist.
“In a way, [Leonard] Bernstein lived his life as a symphony,” concludes Simon.
