Join us for this unique BSO concert as NPR’s “Weekend Edition Saturday” host Scott Simon joins Marin Alsop on stage for an exploration of Bernstein’s genius, featuring a special appearance by Bernstein’s daughter, Jamie Bernstein.
This Off The Cuff experience features a lively commentary on Marin’s musical mentor Leonard Bernstein and selections from Bernstein’s iconic music including West Side Story, Candide and On The Town.
Scott Simon has won every major award in broadcasting, including the Peabody and the Emmy, and he is the popular host of “Weekend Edition Saturday,” which summarizes the week’s news and offers features on a wide range of topics, including arts, entertainment, and human interest stories.
Join us after the performance for live music from the Nico Sarbanes Trio, a book signing with Scott Simon and a CD signing with Marin Alsop.
The Library of Congress Music Division will present a display of Leonard Bernstein’s notes and letters at this performance. This display is part of a new collaboration between the Library and BSO, which celebrates the artistic and educational activities of both institutions.
