This iconic Broadway show has been on the stage since it’s premiere in 1957 and was made into an oscar-winning film just a few years later in 1961. Leonard Bernstein’s world-famous score, featuring songs ‘Maria’, ‘America’, and ‘I Feel Pretty’ has taken on a life of its own, and is in large part why the production is so ingrained in pop culture. Set in the mid-fifties, West Side Story is the tale of two rival gangs on the Upper West Side of New York, and the destruction their feud brings. It’s also a love story, between star-crossed Tony and Maria. This timeless show is coming to Shanghai Culture Square this fall, don’t miss it.
