Tanglewood Music Festival
Seiji Ozawa Hall Lenox, Massachusetts, United States

Andris Nelsons, conductor

The Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, made up of the TMC’s outstanding young instrumental Fellows, opens its 2018 season in Ozawa Hall. Maestro Nelsons and TMC Conducting Fellows lead the ensemble in a program that includes Bernstein’s Opening Prayer (Benediction) – a work for orchestra and baritone that was composed for the re-opening of Carnegie Hall in 1986 – and Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben, a multi-faceted tour-de-force culmination of the composer’s phenomenal tone poems of the 1890s. Also on the program are Smetana’s Vyšehrad and Dvořák’s Carnival Overture.
