Fancy Free

Atlanta Symphony
Symphony Hall Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Peter Oundjian, conductor

In 1989 the Berlin Wall came down and American conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein traveled to Berlin to conduct a celebratory concert. His composer of choice? Beethoven. Ludwig Beethoven and Leonard Bernstein were lifelong champions of two things: music and liberty. All season long, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra celebrates the “LBs.” Join guest conductor Peter Oundjian for the toe-tapping ballet Fancy Free by the 25-year-old Leonard Bernstein, and for the last piece Bernstein conducted before his death at 72, Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. And be amazed by ASO Concertmaster David Coucheron’s performance of the Saint-Saens Violin Concerto.
