Steve Osgood, conductor; Jay Lesenger, director

The naive young hero, Candide, is plagued by an endless series of bizarre comedic disasters on his globe-spanning search for the true meaning of life. Based on the satirical story by Voltaire, Leonard Bernstein’s effervescent philosophical operetta receives its company debut, joining the centennial celebration of the composer’s birth. With a delightfully tuneful score, including highlights such as “Glitter and be Gay” and “Make our Garden Grow,” Candide truly offers audiences “the best of all possible worlds.”
