Sofia Escobar trained at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and remained in England to fulfil her dream of joining the casts of the West End’s great musicals. It was precisely on the London stage that she made her name, lending her likeness and voice to Christine in The Phantom of the Opera and Maria in West Side Story. She was nominated for the Lawrence Olivier Awards for her performance in the latter. She is appearing for the first time in Gulbenkian Music, in a programme filled with tunes from famous musicals and well-known Christmas carols.
