Brevard Symphony Orchestra; Christopher Confessore, conductor; Charlie Harmon; Jennifer Frautschi, violin; Jackie Stressman & E.J. Cardona, vocalists

Saturday, October 6, 2018 is Opening Night and we are proud to present a program celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Leonard Bernstein’s birth! This All-Bernstein concert focuses on Bernstein’s great theatrical works, with excerpts from Candide, On the Town, West Side Story, Mass, and Fancy Free. One of Bernstein’s former Personal Assistants and Librarians, Charlie Harmon, will join us as a special guest for the concert, offering anecdotes about his time working for Bernstein and his experiences watching Bernstein prepare and perform many of the works on our program. Charlie has made a special arrangement for solo violin and orchestra of themes from On the Town. We’ll give the World Premiere of the On the Town Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra with Jennifer Frautschi as our soloist. Our vocal soloists for the West Side Story Suite are two amazing performers I work with at Disney – Jackie Stressman and E.J. Cardona. This will be a spectacular way to open our season, and a fitting tribute to a great American musician!
