WHAT’S INTERESTING ABOUT THIS CONCERT
- American treasure Leonard Bernstein made his conducting debut in a live radio broadcast with the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall at age 25, with just a few hours notice and zero rehearsal time after the guest conductor became ill. This concert celebrates 100 years of his legacy.
- Featuring themes like Somewhere and Maria, West Side Story is one of Bernstein’s best loved and most enduring works, which helped to bridge the gap between classical and popular music.
- Charlie Albright returns after his 2016 debut with the California Symphony, when he brought the house down with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and his Great Balls of Fire encore.
